AC or DC submersible Pump?

✅DC pump motor works on direct current supply (eg solar panel or battery), so it does not need a VSD or inverter. On the other hand AC pump motors are powered via solar pump inverters/VSDs (converting DC from solar panels to AC)

✅Most sources confirm that a DC pump is more efficient than AC pump and requires less solar panels to operate, however you will not be able to run it for emergency in night time, also its price is on the high side (pump only).

✅ For Life span, DC solar pump has longer life time as it uses motor coils manufactured from pure copper, while AC solar pump uses motor coils manufactured from aluminum.

✅ AC pumps are best for big systems which require high volumes and high head. They also allow emergency running on Generator or grid. If you have electricity as an option or alternative, go for AC systems (you will need more panels and a VSD for power conversion)

✅ For small to medium scale irrigation, go for DC pump (especially when you have no access to electricity).
