What are the main differences between Nethouses and Greenhouses?

A greenhouse is a structure covered with plastic/glass etc to trap heat inside (sunlight gets in but is trapped and converted to heat).

A Nethouse is a structure covered with shadenet to protect plants from excessive heat, sunlight or dryness.

Both do protect plants from insects, diseases & adverse weather conditions, and can accommodate hybrid crops for better yields and quality.

Nethouses are more ideal in hot regions, because they provide shade/cool breeze for plants, . Their disadvantage is that they cannot protect crops from frost in winter as much as plastic greenhouses do. Also, Nethouses cannot prevent unwanted rain water into the structure (tho it is diffused and received as fine showers) whereas greenhouses are waterproof.

Cost wise – greenhouses are more expensive than nethouses.

If you go for a Greenhouse, you may need to invest in a Cooling system (fogger is affordable). If you want to avoid rains, whilst getting good aeration , then you can do a structure with plastic roof and shadenet sides.
